WhatsApp Introduces “Chat Lock” Feature To Hide Conversations

By Joseph-Albert Kuuire 1 Min Read

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called Chat Lock, which lets you protect intimate conversations behind one more layer of security.

How It Works

When a user “locks” a chat, it takes the messaging thread out of the inbox and puts it behind its own folder that can only be accessed with a user’s password or biometric.

It also automatically hides the contents of that chat in notifications.

Users can lock a chat by tapping the name of a one-to-one or group and selecting the lock option.

What Happens Next

Meta says that this new feature is currently being rolled out to users. They also stated that they will also be adding options for Chat Lock, including locking for companion devices and creating a custom password for chats so that users can use a unique password different from the one they use for their phone.
