World Press Freedom Index 2023 – Africa

Today is World Press Day. Reporters Without Borders annually puts out its World Press Freedom Index which scores countries on their level of freedom when it comes to press and media.

In 2023, Namibia was the 1st place-ranked country in the African region with an index score of 80.91. The country was ranked 22nd globally even though it dropped four places in 2022.
