MTN Ghana To Completely Phase Out Scratch Cards By June 30

Customers won't be able to use scratch cards for credit refills after July 1, 2024

MTN Ghana will officially complete the phasing out of scratch cards by June 30, 2024.

The company sent out a statement informing customers and trade partners that customers with unused MTN scratch cards will not be able to recharge them after July 1, 2024.

Customers can redeem the value of their scratch cards via Credit transfer (EVD) at any of its MTN Customer Experience Centers across the country.

MTN Ghana stated that the move is in line with its sustainability strategy to lead digital solutions, adopt clean environmental practices in Ghana and beyond, which aligns with the government’s digitalization drive.

The last scratch cards by MTN were last introduced in 2020.

MTN customers are encouraged to continue using existing digital channels including MoMo, Ayoba, and myMTN app to recharge. As part of our commitment towards a clean environment, customers enjoy a 50% bonus on all recharges done via Mobile Money,” the statement said.

The Chief Sales and Distribution Officer of MTN Ghana said, “The phasing out of the scratch cards is one of the avenues to help us protect the environment, empower customers to drive digital usage, and make customer service delivery more efficient.”
