Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the current presidential candidate for the National Patriotic Party (NPP), yesterday outlined his party’s manifesto on what the party would do if they were voted into power for the next four years in the upcoming election.

Here are 5 takeaways from the manifesto:

Establishment of a National Robotics and AI Lab

Dr Bawumia stated that his administration would work with tech firms to establish a Robotics, Engineering, and AI lab where they would recruit and train Ghanaians.

Implementation of a Digital Residency (E-Residency)

In the manifesto, the NPP stated that their next administration would establish a Digital residency program similar to Estonia to enable companies and freelancers to register and operate within Ghana.

Implementing a 5 Year Digital Nomad Visa and Work Permit

If elected, the NPP stated that they would implement a digital nomad visa to enable freelancers and remote workers to obtain special visas to work within Ghana.

Removing the Electronic Levy (E-Levy)

The next administration would remove the controversial E-Levy if elected in the December elections. Ironically, it was the current NPP administration led by the current president who implemented the E-levy.

Establishing a Fintech Fund With $100 Million

Lastly, the next administration would establish a fintech fund worth $100 Million for local fintech startups to take advantage of. Startups developing fintech solutions region-wide and for export would stand to benefit.
