General Registration of .Africa Domain Names Start On 4th July

By Joseph-Albert Kuuire 2 Min Read

If you haven’t heard, Africa is getting its own domain name. The “.africa” domain registration will be available to the general public for purchase starting July 4th. At the moment, there is a pre-registration phase going on for those who want to purchase the domain name before being officially open to the public.

.AFRICA is the Top-Level Domain Name system for the continent of Africa. The “.africa” will serve as a regional domain for individuals and entities based in and out of Africa.

Where You Can Purchase .Africa Domain Names

At the moment, you can pre-register your .africa domain name at Web4Africa.net.  Pre-registration will cost you about $170 and once the General availability phase starts off on 4th July, the price stays at $170.

If $170 is a bit high for you, there will be a reduced price from Web4Africa starting from 2nd August and that will cost you $24 a year.

Other domain registration sites such as Name.com will also offer .africa domain registration but there is no word on pricing just yet.

Having a .africa domain sounds like cool. Perhaps, Tech Nova could get it’s own .africa domain name.

TechNovagh.africa? Not bad.
