Tigo and Airtel have officially unveiled the name and logo of their new entity following the merger of the two companies. Not too long ago, the National Communications Authority (NCA) approved the merger for the new two telecom countries to merge.
Aside from the official unveiling of the new company name and logo, executives for the merged entity were also officially out-doored today.
Tigo’s MD, Roshi Motman assumes the role of CEO of the new entity now known as AirtelTigo. The merger makes AirtelTigo, the second largest telecom company in Ghana with 22 percent of the market share.
Some of the new executive members of AirtelTigo include Mufti Shaban (COO), Kwame Annor (HR) and Bright Owusu Bempah.
I am not a big fan of the name “AirtelTigo” as I feel it’s a missed opportunity for the newly merged company to start anew. But perhaps the new name will not matter if the company manages to offer stellar customer services and offerings to users.
But there is the rumoured acquisition of the newly formed entity by the telecom company Orange.
We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.
