President-Elect John Mahama, in his manifesto, stated that his incoming government would remove certain taxes, including the Electronic Levy (E-Levy), Covid Levy, and the betting tax in 2025.
According to data, the E-Levy generated GHC 1.19 billion in 2023. The Ministry of Finance projected a revenue of GHC 2.1 billion in 2024.
The COVID Levy and estimated revenue from the betting Tax generated an estimated GHC 3.7 billion in 2023.
Looking at estimates, if the COVID Levy, Betting tax and E-Levy were removed, that would leave a potential GHC 6 billion revenue shortfall.
