The next edition of Tech in Ghana is scheduled to take place in Kumasi on 4th and 5th December. This year will be the 16th edition of the conference and the first time it will be held in Kumasi.
The theme of this year’s event is “Royal Edition: Where Tradition Meets Innovation” — emphasising how traditional industries (manufacturing, agriculture, education) are being transformed via technology.
Today we’re spotlighting JULIAN OWUSU (Founder, Build), who will be a speaker at the event.
About Julian
Julian Owusu is Ghanaian (UK-born) and based in Accra, Ghana. He initially pursued a career in professional football in Ghana and abroad.
After his athletic career, he transitioned into tech/product management roles in London before shifting his focus to building his own businesses in Ghana.
Current Roles & Focus
He is the founder of BUILD, a company focused on AI and business automation for the future.
He is also behind Cactus Talent, a platform connecting UK (and beyond) businesses with African talent, positioning Ghana as a hub for “AI-ready outsourcing”.
Through Build, he leads initiatives to upskill Africa’s workforce, embed AI in institutions, and reframe Africa’s role in the global economy.
Julian is part of a newer wave of African entrepreneurs who are building from Africa, focusing on African talent for global markets, rather than simply importing foreign models.
His work intersects talent development, AI/business automation, and local market adoption — making him relevant for Ghana’s tech ecosystem, workforce transformation, and Africa’s digital future.
You can learn more about Julian at the upcoming Tech in Ghana Conference happening in Kumasi on 4th and 5th December.
