Year in Review: How Tech Labari Did In 2025

2 Min Read

It’s been a busy year for Tech Labari. In 2025, we cemented our position as one of the go-to sources for what’s next in the Ghanaian and West African tech ecosystems.

We covered stories across Accra, Lagos, Nairobi, and Cape Town.

How’s how we did in 2025:

The Data Deep Dive

Last year, we launched Labari Insights, our data platform out of beta. This year, we decided to make the platform free for all.

Users can now get access to startups, their funding data, and tech events on the African continent.

  • The Numbers: We generated over 11,000+ impressions on the platform in 2025

Growth Metrics

  • Web Traffic: A 106% increase in readership this year, primarily from United States, Nigeria, Kenya, and global investor hubs (London, San Francisco).

Challenges Ahead

  1. AI Threat: The rise of generative AI news summaries threatens the market for general tech news, making proprietary and data-focused journalism even more critical.
  2. Expansion Pressure: Although primarily focused on Ghana, readers expect more coverage in other markets. This will require some investment (hiring local reporters, etc) to help with coverage.

The Bottom Line

At Tech Labari, we’ve successfully evolved from a simple news blog into a sophisticated, data-driven news media platform.

Our biggest strength is our deep, hyper-local authority—something a foreign newsroom cannot easily replicate.

We now face the classic scale-up challenge: maintaining quality and culture while trying to expand rapidly across the continent.
