Update: The E-Levy bill has been revised to 1% from 1.5%
This week, the majority in the Ghanaian Parliament officially passed the E-Levy bill which is currently awaiting the signature of the president to be passed into law. Once signed off, the E-Levy will place a 1.5% tax on electronic transactions including bank transfers and mobile money payments.
The law is expected to take into effect starting from May this year.
The Minister of Finance has officially put out an FAQ about the E-Levy to help answer questions about the bill.
