We publish sharp, original writing about technology, startups, and digital culture — especially stories rooted in African contexts. If you have something worth saying, we want to hear from you.

Submission Guidelines

Original Work Only

All submissions must be your own original writing and must not have been published elsewhere — including personal blogs, Medium, LinkedIn articles, or other outlets. Work currently under review at another publication is also ineligible.

Word Count & Format

Articles should be between 800 and 2,000 words. In-depth analyses or technical deep-dives may extend to 3,000 words with prior editorial approval. Submit as a Google Doc (with comment access enabled) or a Word doc via email.

Topics We Cover

We focus on technology as it relates to Africa and the African diaspora — but we welcome globally relevant tech coverage too. Strong pitches typically cover startups and funding, fintech, AI and machine learning, policy and regulation, and digital culture.

Accuracy & Sourcing

Claims, statistics, and quotes must be accurate and verifiable. Hyperlink your sources inline within the document. Quotes from interviews must be attributed. Avoid citing Wikipedia as a primary source — link to the original reference instead.
Strict

Voice & Tone

Write in clear, confident, accessible language. We prefer an editorial style — analytical but not academic, opinionated but not reckless. Avoid jargon without explanation. First-person is welcome in opinion pieces. Make your argument clear from the first paragraph.

06Images & Media

Include at least one high-resolution cover image suggestion (minimum 1200×630px). All images must be original, licensed, or sourced from a royalty-free provider such as Unsplash or Pexels. Credit the photographer where applicable.

Author Bio

Include a short bio of 50–80 words at the end of your submission — your name, current role or area of expertise, and one or two social links. A headshot (square, minimum 400×400px) is encouraged.
