Binance Executive In Nigerian Custody Reportedly Being Denied Access To Legal Team

Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan who has been detained in Nigeria after being accused of financial improprities by Binance, is reportedly being denied access to his legal team.

According to a press release by Mondo-Advisory, the communications agency for the Gambaryan Family, Tigran’s health has been deteriorating rapidly.

He has also previously suffered Malaria in Nigerian detention and collapsed in court.

Details

In February this year, Tigran Gambaryan along with another Binance executive Nadeem Anjarwalla were invited by the Nigerian government over concerns of financial malfiences and tax fraud by the crypto company.

Both were arrested and detained by Nigerian authorities. Nadeem reportedly absconded and fled the country.

In June 2024, it was reported that Nigeria had dropped charges against the two executives but Tigran has still been held in custody.

Digging Deeper

According to Tigran’s legal team, they have been denied access to their client since July 26th. The team has stated that his health has deteriorated and he has a herniated disc which would require surgery.

His wife Yuki has made a desperate plea to the Nigerian government to release her husband so that he can get the medical care he requires.

“My husband Tigran left our home for a work trip almost six months ago, and I have no idea when he will be back. Now his health is in a shockingly bad condition and getting worse by the day.

I am begging the Nigerian government to please release him so that he can come home and receive the medical treatment he urgently needs before it is too late.”
