Chatbot Africa Develops “LevyBot” For Calculating E-Levy Fees On WhatsApp

On May 1st, the Ghanaian government implemented a tax of 1.5% on all mobile money transactions that exceed GH₵100.00 daily. This tax is deemed as the E-Levy. The E-levy is a tax imposed on electronic transfers charged at the time of transfer. The law is administered by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and collected through licensed Banks, Specialized Deposit-Taking Institutions, Payment Service Providers (PSPs), and Electronic Money Issuers (EMIs).

The levy is applied on the amount of transfer above GHS 100 daily. That is, after one hundred Ghana Cedis (GHS 100) a day cumulative transfer, the e-levy will be applied. In other words, if the total amount sent in a day is not more than GHS 100, you will not pay E-levy.

Knowing exactly how much E-levy will be calculated on the amount you are sending can be a headache. For this reason, Chatbots Africa developed a smart assistant called LevyBot that will help you calculate E-Levy charges right on WhatsApp.

All you have to do is send Hi to 0204010705 on Whatsapp or scan the QR code to begin. It’s easy, quick, and hustle-free. Give it a try today.
