Visa has partnered with fintech company Chipper Cash as it plans to expand its reach in Africa.
Chipper Cash, which enables instant cross-border mobile money transfers, already has over a million customers and recently launched in South Africa. The company will use $8 million it raised in 2019 to grow in new markets and hire more staff.
Chipper Chief Executive Officer Ham Serunjogi said, “Working with Chipper is another opportunity “to accelerate financial inclusion across Africa,”
Chipper has offices in Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria. It is also located in New York and is setting up shop in London. It is not currently seeking any additional funding and is focusing on ensuring the reliability of its service where it already operates, Serunjogi said.
