CMC Networks, Africa’s leading networking provider and a subsidiary of center3, has appointed Mahesh Jaishankar as Managing Director to drive the company’s strategy around AI-powered connectivity across Africa and the Middle East.
Why it matters
- The appointment comes as CMC accelerates its adoption of AI for IT Operations (AIOps), aiming to cement its leadership in AI-driven connectivity.
- Jaishankar succeeds Marisa Trisolino, who left in April 2025, and brings over 25 years of experience building digital infrastructure businesses.
Background
- Jaishankar has held senior roles at Google, du, and datamena, where he built the latter into a global digital hub connecting hyperscalers, OTT players, and enterprises to the Middle East and Africa.
- He most recently advised Arthur D. Little and served as Google’s Head of Strategic Negotiations, GNA.
- Beyond corporate roles, he has supported entrepreneurship as a charter member of TiE Dubai.
What they’re saying
- “Mahesh brings over 25 years of experience in building and scaling advanced digital infrastructure businesses,” said Fahad Alhajeri, CEO of center3 and Chairman of CMC Networks. “We are confident that under his leadership, CMC will strengthen its position as the leading provider of intelligent, AI-driven connectivity solutions across Africa and the Middle East.”
- “I’m honoured to take on the role at such a pivotal moment for AI, innovation, and the growth of Africa’s digital economies,” said Jaishankar.
The big picture
- center3 acquired CMC Networks in June 2024, boosting its AI capabilities and accelerating its footprint across 62 markets in Africa and the Middle East.
- CMC Networks is betting that AI-driven scalability and customer experience will be key to powering Africa’s growing digital economies.
