“Demo Fridays” Makes Its Debut Showcasing Tech Talent in Ghana Tech Ecosystem

The inaugural Demo Fridays event in Accra was held last Friday at the MEST Africa Incubator. Organized by the Building Bytes podcast and supported by MEST Africa, this event brought together startups, tech teams, early adopters, and tech professionals in a showcase of innovation.

Inspired by the historic Homebrew Computer Club meeting and the rapid growth of the local tech market across various sectors, Demo Fridays aims to create a platform to share insights, ignite collaborations, and spark innovation that offers a unique opportunity for founders, customers, professionals, enablers, regulators, and investors to converge, share insights, and collaborate.

Event Line Ups

The event featured a lineup of demos and insights sharing from startups including products such as USSDhub, a drag-and-drop platform for building USSD apps, Uzuri Space a virtual reality startup helping artists showcase their work, Bare-connect, an e-commerce builder for businesses and creators and Worklyn, a software helping busy professionals get the best of their productive hours.

Panel Sessions

A highlight of the day was the panel discussion on “Building For the Ghanaian Market,” featuring esteemed speakers such as Irina Oduro, CEO of VerifiBuy (formerly Kudigo); Benjamin Sackey, Product professional at Peach Payments; and Stefan Froelich (TheDumbTechGuy), a software engineer at Spry. Their diverse perspectives provided invaluable insights into developing products tailored to the local market.

Introduction of New Newsletter

At the event Building Bytes introduced its newsletter, Tech Leaders Brief which updates tech CEOs and professionals so they are always in the loop of activities and insights in the tech ecosystem across Ghana.

Participants praised the event for its inclusive atmosphere, where they could learn new skills, share knowledge, and explore potential collaborations.

The next event is scheduled for September.
