Dr. Mensah’s academic prowess earned him a fellowship to study in France, furthering his expertise at Montpellier University and later at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Dr. Mensah’s professional career was marked by innovation and excellence. At Corning Glass Works, he was instrumental in improving the manufacturing process of optical fibers, increasing production speeds, and making the technology more accessible and cost-effective.
This leap forward was crucial in enabling the high-speed data transmission that forms the backbone of our modern telecommunications systems.
His work did not stop there. Dr. Mensah’s expertise was sought after by Bell Laboratories, where he led programs that contributed to the development of laser-guided weapons systems. He also served as president and CEO of Georgia Aerospace Systems, manufacturing advanced nanocomposite structures for the US Department of Defense.
Death
Dr. Mensah passed away on March 27, 2024, at the age of 74 following a brief illness.
