Well…No one saw this coming…
Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger resigned from Instagram, their photo-sharing company.
Kevin Systrom confirmed the exit in a blog post.
“We’re planning on taking some time off to explore our curiosity and creativity again,” he wrote. “Building new things requires that we step back, understand what inspires us and match that with what the world needs; that’s what we plan to do.”
Mark Zuckerberg later released a statement after the exit of the founders of Instagram.
“Kevin and Mike are extraordinary product leaders and Instagram reflects their combined creative talents. I’ve learned a lot working with them for the past six years and have really enjoyed it. I wish them all the best and I’m looking forward to seeing what they build next.”
The exit of the founders of Instagram comes after another high profile exit by the Whatsapp co-founder Jan Koum who resigned over apparent disagreements about user privacy and data-sharing.
What does this mean for Instagram? More accessibility for Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook?
We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
