Five African Online Ticket Platforms Battling It Out For Local Event Creators

By Joseph-Albert Kuuire 3 Min Read

The world has evolved into a more digital state with most activities and services being moved from physical to online.

The digitalisation of services has also moved to the ticketing space. Most events were moving from dishing out physical tickets to offering digital ones.

The online event ticketing market size was valued at USD 54.26 billion in 2019 and is expected to grow. From movies, sports and live music events, the trend of online ticketing has been growing exponentially.

The positives of avoiding long queues to buy tickets, ability to pay online and other benefits make online ticketing.

Right now, we’re taking a look at online ticketing in Africa, specifically in the Ghana tech ecosystem. Here are five ticketing platforms offering online ticket services in Ghana:

Egotickets

Egotickets is an online ticketing platfom that helps event organisers and promoters put up their events online. Users can view free or paid events and make purchases on the platform.

Tickets bought online are sent to the user’s email with a QR code which can be scanned for confirmation at the event.

The platform was formed in 2013 by Alfred Rowe.

AyaTickets

Ayatickets is a Ghanaian ticketing platform which offers online ticket purchase services. Organisers can add their events online (free or paid).

The platform also allows event organisers to check in event goers through a dedicated mobile app at the event grounds.

Tix Africa

tix.africa is a Nigerian self-service ticketing platform for event creators. The platform recently set up shop in Ghana and offers online ticketing services for Ghanaian event organisers.

The platform recently launched a feature called “Box Office” where event organisers can build a single-page website for all their events and products.

Afritickets

Afritickets is an an end-to-end event ticketing platform that powers ticketing and registration for live experiences in Africa.

Currently, the platform looks to be operating in Nigeria although they have an office in Accra.

Users can purchase tickets through the platform’s partnership with Flutterwave last year.

Tease Africa

Tease Africa is a relatively newcomer in the ticketing event space. The platform launched last year and allows organisers to create events as well as organise polls via USSD.

The platform was founded by a team of entrepreneurs with a passion for using technology to make event planning and voting more efficient and accessible.
