The services are now fully licensed by the Central Bank of Central African States (BEAC), through a technical partnership with Ecobank.

Why it matters

Cameroon’s businesses — from small boutiques to global corporations — now have access to a fully compliant digital payment infrastructure that allows them to accept payments, make payouts, and manage finances more securely and efficiently.

Flutterwave is one of the few fintechs officially authorized to operate in Cameroon, a region where regulatory compliance is essential to scaling fintech solutions.

  • The license allows payments via mobile money, cards, and bank transfers, tailored for Cameroon’s digital economy.
  • Small businesses can generate payment links and share them through social platforms like WhatsApp or Instagram.
  • Enterprises can issue digital invoices, manage vendor payments, and access a unified dashboard for all transactions.
  • Global firms can collect local currency payments, manage settlements, and process refunds while staying regulatory-compliant.

This move positions Flutterwave as a key player in Cameroon’s digital transformation, offering everything from fraud detection tools to localized support that cater to the region’s unique financial landscape.
