African fintech giant Flutterwave has relaunched its cross-border payments platform, Send App, in Europe, offering Africans in the diaspora a faster and more secure way to send money home.
The relaunch includes new security upgrades, expanded payment options, and coverage across multiple European countries.
Why it matters
Europe is home to one of the largest African diaspora communities, with billions of dollars in remittances sent to the continent annually.
Flutterwave’s move comes at a time when remittance flows to low- and middle-income countries are projected to reach $690 billion by 2025, according to the World Bank.
“This isn’t just a resumption; it’s a renewed commitment to our community,” said Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola, CEO and founder of Flutterwave.
Driving the news:
- The refreshed Send App now supports money transfers from Ireland, France, Germany, and Italy to countries including Nigeria, Egypt, Cameroon, and Côte d’Ivoire.
- Users can send money via Visa cards or direct bank transfers, with more payment options in the pipeline.
- Enhanced security infrastructure and regulatory compliance ensure safer and more reliable transactions.

The European relaunch follows Flutterwave’s expansion in the U.S., where the company recently acquired 20 new Money Transmitter Licenses (MTLs). This enables broader coverage for U.S.-based users sending money to Africa.
