The government of Ghana has reportedly entered into an agreement with Google, to incorporate Ghana’s GPS address in its mapping system. The announcement was made by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at an event yesterday.

The agreement was reached after a technical evaluation by Google to certify Ghana’s addressing system.

We have engaged Google since last year and we have now obtained the agreement because they have to go through technical processes to evaluate our GPS digital system and so by the end of this year, Google have agreed to allow us to integrate our digital address system into Google Maps. So people can use them here in Ghana”, he said.

The Ghana Post digital address system was launched in 2017 and its aim was to address the local addressing issue in Ghana and assign businesses and places of residences with digital addresses.
