What do Ghanaians search for when they go online? Which websites do they spend most of their on time?
Well, according to new data pulled from Data Report, it looks like Ghanaians love three things: Social Media, Football/Betting, and X-Rated Videos.
According to their data which was released early this year, the top 5 websites that Ghanaians visited were as follows:
- Ghanaweb
- Betway
- Betpawa
- Xvideos
WhatsApp And Facebook Are Social Media Kings
When it comes to social media, most Ghanaians are frequent on these online platforms: WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube. The aforementioned platforms were the top three platforms used frequently by Ghanaians aged 16 – 64 in January 2021.
Interestingly enough, Snapchat had a higher percentage of users at 37.2% which was a tad bit higher than Twitter which was about 36.2%
Twitter just recently launched an office in Ghana and has according to estimates, the total number of Twitter users is estimated to be about 920,000.
YouTube Is For Movies And Music
For Ghanaians, when it comes to online entertainment, YouTube appears to be the go for most people. According to the top Youtube searches, most Ghanaians are looking for either music or movies when browsing the popular streaming platform.
All in all, it appears that Ghanaians are very specific when it comes to online music. Entertainment including movies and music appear to be main appetizers for online Ghanaian users.
It would also appear that online betting plays a big component as well especially when you tie it to soccer matches from the English Premier League and other soccer leagues.
For social media, Facebook is still king. Snapchat and Tiktok are also becoming more popular and Instagram is still in heavy use.
