Highlights From The Standard Chartered Cybersecurity Summit

On Wednesday, 21st March at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra, Standard Chartered held a cybersecurity summit to discuss the topic of cybersecurity in the financial sector in Ghana.

The summit featured panel discussion which had personalities including Archie Hesse, CEO of Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Limited (GHIPSS), Vincent Sowah Odotei (Deputy minister of communication), Alex Bram (Hubtel), Sheikh Jobe (Standard Chartered) and Prof Nii Narku Quaynor.

Discussions at the summit revolved around cybersecurity, the current policies in place to combat cybercriminals and how fintechs in the country are working with banks on cybersecurity.

Notable discussions included how Ghana had established cybersecurity groups which have been spearheaded by government.

Other notable highlights included some views from Kenneth Ashigbey, CEO of Ghana Telecom Chamber, sharing his views on cybersecurity from the perspective of the telecom companies.
