Instagram Adds New “Repost” Feature for Reel and Posts

1 Min Read

Instagram is rolling out new features — including reposts, an interactive map, and a “Friends” tab in Reels — aimed at making it easier for users to engage with their friends through the content they love.

The details

  • Reposts: Users can now repost public Reels and feed posts. These reposts will appear both in their friends’ and followers’ feeds, as well as in a new “Reposts” tab on their profile.
  • Attribution: All reposts are credited to the original creator, allowing for greater exposure. This could help smaller creators reach new audiences when their content is shared by others.
  • Reposting process: To repost a reel or post, users tap the repost icon. They can also add a note to their repost using a thought bubble before saving.

What’s next

The new “Friends” tab in Reels and an expanded map experience are expected to further enhance how users discover and share content tied to their personal networks — blurring the lines between content discovery and social connection.
