Renewables appear to be on the rise in places like the US and Europe. In the next 5 years, How do you see companies taking advantage of places like Ghana to be proficient in renewable energy?

Christopher Rockson: As long as electricity is indispensable for our socio-economic survival, ways and means of electricity generation have to be found out; be it thermal, gas, coal or nuclear. Now that electrification is becoming a priority for Governments across the world, everyone is exploring options to meet the demands of their people and industry.

For Developed Countries, renewable energy is just an ‘alternate’ source of energy. However for developing countries, it is THE most economical source of energy. Suppliers of all renewable energy products are targeting African markets with their low voltage solutions at this moment, gradually they shall move on to higher grades.

Ghana is currently heavily spotted in the global renewable energy map due to its Solar energy potential.

Construction appears to be booming in Accra with new buildings springing up everyday. Will events like this eventually be shifted to other cities in Ghana like Kumasi or Takoradi?

Christopher Rockson: Not really. International events take time to evolve, it normally takes about 10-15 years. Accra still has good connectivity for international travelers with good hotels around.

What has been the response from the local community with events like this?

Christopher Rockson: Local companies have already responded positively for all our shows. This is evident from the fact that an event like this is back in Accra in less than 11 months.

What do you hope to achieve through this event after it’s all said and done?

Christopher Rockson: Cost effective and innovative solutions for the energy and construction sectors through our event.

Make Accra the West African Commercial Hub by improving the  city’s overall economic activities through more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
