iOS 17 Might Allow Sideloading Of Apps – Bloomberg Report

1 Min Read

According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple might be gearing up to allow sideloading of apps on iOS 17.

Apple is expected to make this announcement at its upcoming Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June.

Why This Matters

The European Union made a recent change in regulation when introducing its Digital Market Act (DMA) which will come into effect in 2024. The DMA will introduce new ‘ex ante’ competition rules for gatekeeping tech giants to ensure markets are fair and open.

This might be forcing companies like Apple to introduce a new way of sideloading apps on their platform.
