According to new services displayed in the Uber app, Ghana might be getting new features from the transportation company.
Uber appears to be expanding its “Family Profile” ecosystem with a dedicated feature for older adults. Positioned alongside its existing “Teens” portfolio, the Seniors feature aims to reduce the digital friction often associated with ride-sharing for the elderly.
In addition, especially with the legalisation of Okada (motorbike) in the country, the app displays an option to use that mode of transport.
About Senior Accounts
The Senior Account update focuses on a “caregiver” model, allowing family members to oversee the logistics of a ride from start to finish. According to the Uber website, key features included in the rollout are:
- Simplified Booking Interface: Seniors can request rides through a streamlined version of the app, designed for higher legibility and ease of use.
- Active Oversight: Family organizers can book trips on behalf of a senior, track the vehicle in real-time.
- Direct Driver Communication: To ensure a smooth pickup, organizers can communicate directly with the driver regarding mobility needs or precise locations.
The “Okada” Integration: Localizing the Last Mile
While historically an informal sector, Uber’s “Moto” integration seeks to standardize the two-wheeled commute.

The Efficiency Play: The “Okada” option is positioned as a high-speed, low-cost alternative for navigating dense urban traffic where traditional vehicles stall.
Between the Lines: Uber Ghana have not officially announced these features to the public but the new features appear to be currently functional in the app.
