The 2025 World Happiness Report has ranked Finland as the world’s happiest country for the eighth consecutive year, with other Nordic nations like Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden also ranking highly. 

In Sub-Saharan Africa, the report reveals a diverse landscape of happiness levels. Mauritius leads the continent, ranking 78th in the world.

South Africa and Mozambique ranked as the 2nd and 3rd highest with a world ranking of 95th and 96th respectively.

The report assesses happiness based on various factors, including social support, income, health, freedom, generosity, and perceptions of corruption.

The United States has experienced a decline in happiness rankings, falling to its lowest-ever position at 24th place.
