At this year’s Electronics Expos event (E3 2017), Microsoft was the first company to kick off their press briefing and they took no time in announcing their new gaming console. It was named Project Scorpio but at their press briefing, Microsoft officially unveiled their new console with a new name: Xbox One X.
The Xbox One X will officially launch on November 7 and will retail at $499.
Microsoft is branding this new console as having the most powerful processor in a game console and also stated that it’s the smallest Xbox they’ve created.
If you’re into specifications, here’s what the Xbox One X’s hardware looks like:
- CPU: Eight custom x86 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz
- 6 teraflops of graphical power, (Compared to the PS4 Pro with 4.2 teraflops)
- GPU engine that runs at 1172MHz
- Memory: 12 GB GDDR5
- Hardrive: 1 TB 2.5-inch
- Ultra HD Blu-ray drive for 4K movies and entertainment.
Original Xbox Games Coming to Xbox One X
This was an interesting announcement by Microsoft. Xbox One and Xbox 360 games were already going to be compatible with the Xbox One X. But Microsoft also announced that some original Xbox games will also be playable on Xbox One X.
So yeah, old games on the original Xbox will be backward compatible on the Xbox One X. It should be interesting to see which games will be available.
