MTN Officially Launches The MTN Apps Challenge V5.0

Today at the MTN Ghana Head office, the MTN App Challenge 5.o was officially launched.  Tha Apps challenge seeks to bring together app developers, animators and tech enthusiasts for a chance to create products which would bring in value and advance the tech scene in Ghana.

This year’s event accepts participants from senior high schools, tertiary schools, and freelancers to develop apps and solutions in the categories of mobile apps, Internet of Things (IoT), and animated videos.

A new category for “Best Female Developer” has been added to encourage more female participation in the contest.

Prizes for overall winners of the competition range from 15,000 GHC to 20,000 GHC.

Judges For The Competition

The judges for this year’s event are Ethel Cofie, Alain Gbeasor, Yaw Boakye, and Eyram Tawia of Leti Arts.

The judges this year won’t just be judging apps and solutions just based on their ideas but also if participants are creating solutions which have monetary value in the long run.

Just like last year’s event, winners from v5.0 of the Apps Challenge will be part of the KatAppult program will help participants to iterate and commercialize their products.

The MTN Apps Challenge will go on to the road to various locations including the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School (MEST), USD Campus and University of Ghana (Full Schedule here)

Deadline for registration for the apps challenge is 5th February 2018.
