National Communications Authority Releases SIM Registration App On Google Playstore

Ghana’s National Communications Authority (NCA) has officially released its SIM Card registration on the Google Playstore.

The mobile app will allow subscribers on Ghana mobile networks (MTN, Vodafone, AirtelTigo, and Glo) to complete their SIM Card Registration using their Ghana Card ID.

Earlier this year, Ghana’s Ministry of Communication and Digitisation stated that they were extending the SIM Re-registration exercise till the end of September 2022. Mobile users are supposed to register their SIM cards using their Ghana Card IDs. After the deadline, unregistered SIM cards will be unable to access their respective networks.

What You’ll Need To Register Your SIM Using The App

According to the NCA’s website, users who want to register their SIM cards will need the following:

  • Ghana Card
  • Internet Access
  • Email Address
  • Unique Code for your SIM after Stage 1 Registration
  • Ghana Digital Address
  • Mobile Money Account

Users will need to enter their network details and scan their biometrics (fingerprints) using their cameras.

Self-registration will cost the user 5 GHC (we’re presuming you’ll pay using your mobile money account).

Currently, the app is available on the Google Playstore. The app is not live on the iOS store but we’ll update with a link if it becomes available.
