It would appear that the National Communications Authority (NCA) has finally granted conditional approval for a merger between Tigo and Airtel.
Earlier in March, Tigo and Airtel agreed to combine their operations based on equal ownership and governance rights. But there was some speculation that the deal was being held back because of some conditions being made by the government.
But on Thursday, September 14th, a notice was given internally to Airtel and Tigo employees that the NCA has given conditional approval for the merger to go forward.
It is not known how long the process will take for the merger to be completed, but Tech Nova will give updates once the process moves forward.
