Netflix, the popular TV streaming platform has finally announced its ads tier feature which will start in November.
Netflix’s new ad-supported tier called “Basic With Ads”, is a lower-priced subscription plan which will feature ads as part of the plan.
The service will be available in the US on November 3 and will start at $6.99. It will also launch in 12 countries which will include Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, and the UK.
What’s in the Basic With Ads Plan
Basic with Ads offers all the features people expect from Netflix’s Basic plan, with a few differences:
- Video quality up to 720p
- An average of 4 to 5 minutes of ads per hour; a limited number of movies and TV shows won’t be available due to licensing restrictions, which we’re working on; no ability to download titles
- At launch, ads will be 15 or 30 seconds in length, which will play before and during shows and films.
