It’s been reported that the streaming platform Netflix, will officially start charging consumers who share passwords. This new policy will go into effect by the end of March.

This was confirmed in a shareholder letter.

According to the streaming company, more than 100 million households are using a shared password.

The company had been facing the issue of losing subscribers. They had announced that they expect to lose more subscribers over the coming months and therefore will need to put up a strategy to curb those losses. Hence, clamping down on password sharing.

The company also recently added an ad-tier to its payment options where consumers pay a lower fee with ads.
