Starting this month in June, Nigerian content creators will be able to monetise their content on Meta platforms including Instagram and Facebook.

Details

Meta’s President of Global Affairs Nick Clegg, who recently led a delegation in Nigeria to visit Nigeria President Bola Tinubu, stated that content creators will get access to Instagram’s monetisation features starting in June 2024.

Why This Matters

With over 100 million active social media users, Nigeria presents a vast audience eager to engage with diverse content. The introduction of monetization on Instagram is a testament to the country’s burgeoning creator economy, which spans across various niches, including comedy, fashion, education, and art.

What They’re Saying

“I can assure you that Nigeria is open for business. We want to lead the African continent in digital technology. Data is valuable to our development. We are ready to cooperate on technological advancements. It is the only way to go. We need a collaboration that will be a win-win for all.” Nigeria President Bola Tinubu said.
