If you’re a gamer, you probably recognize the above pattern as the Contra cheat code which gave players 30 extra lives.

Video gaming is a universal past time. From the days of Atari to modern systems like the Xbox One and Playstation 4, gamers around the world have always been competitive when playing with each other or co-operatively. From Mario Kart to Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64, gamers have always competed with each other. With the evolution of the internet and online gameplay, the concept of E-Sports has grown ever since.

E-Sports is competitive gaming among gamers where players compete with each other in tournaments where the eventual winners get prizes which usually involve cash.

In Ghana, E-Sports is in its infancy but there is a group attempting to make E-sports a bigger deal.

Antrix Gaming

Antrix Gaming, a special entity focused on entertainment and gaming in Ghana. They focus on organizing game events which bring together gamers for a day/night of fun and comradery. Some of their partners include the famous Leti Arts and Gasbros Network.

This month, Antrix Gaming will be having a Game Night which will feature games like Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat X.

You can check out videos for Injustice 2 below. Looks very cool.

You can go to the Antrix Gaming website to register for the event or call the number on the poster above.

More Bandwidth And Support

One of the challenges most gaming leagues or tournaments face is the cost of bandwidth for online gameplay. Data can tend to be expensive in Ghana.  If you’re gaming online with friends, you better make sure your connection is solid.

It’s great that Antrix Gaming is trying to bring people together for gaming. There is definitely a market for e-sports. It just needs the infrastructure and support to grow. Sponsors and telecom companies need to get on board to help push the e-sports field.

If you’re a passionate gamer and love video games, check out Antrix Gaming and support the local gaming community.
