Review: Kumawood App – Updated, Improved, Worth It? (Updated)

Update: New Review

So, I reviewed the Kumawood app  a couple of weeks ago. It wasn’t good. It wasn’t appealing. It just wasn’t good at all.

Fast forward and it looks like the Kumawood app has been updated and improved.

So here’s how the app works:

You get a selection of movies to watch. They’ve all been grouped in different categories including Action, Comedy and Drama.

Users get the option to preview the movie on their phone but if they want to watch the full movie, they need to subscribe to a package. Users get the following packages to subscribe to:

  • 1 Day: 1.00 GHC
  • 1 Week: 5 GHC
  • 1 Month: 20 GHC
  • 1 Year: 200 GHC

Users can pay with Airtime (MTN), Visa/Mastercard and Mobile Money.

Even though the creators of this app want users to all subscribe to this model, they need to take care of the fact that some of the movies they already have listed are currently free on Youtube.

If I can watch a movie for free on Youtube, why would I pay on the app?

“My Brother” movie available on Youtube. So why pay using the app?

Whether Ghanaians even want to stream movies on this app is another thing.

So it really depends on how patriotic Ghanaians are when it comes to supporting the local movie industry.

You can check out the Kumawood app for yourself on the Google Playstore
