In July, the popular Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale announced that he would be launching his own “Uber” like service for riders called Shaxi.

Fast forward and the Shaxi app has been officially released.

The mobile works similar to the Uber and Bolt app, with users able to request rides to their destinations.

At a launch event, Shatta Wale said he hopes the app would provide jobs for the youth.

Everybody knows I love the youth of Ghana and I always want to see them do well. I want to see the boys and girls in the ghettos move from being unemployed to having gainful employment,’’ Shatta Wale said.

The artiste added that his motives for setting up the business are not for profit-making but intends to make an impact and leaving a mark.

The Shaxi app is now available on iOS and Google Playstore.
