Société Générale has submitted a list of bidders seeking to acquire its shares in the bank to the Bank of Ghana for review.
Earlier this year, there were reports that the bank had been in contact with a consulting group to look for potential buyers as it prepared to leave some African markets including Ghana and Cameroon.
What They’re Saying
Bank of Ghana governor Dr Addison, said at a Monetary Policy Committee press conference last Friday that the bidding process is currently ongoing.
The central bank is expecting to be informed about the preferred bidders who have been settled on by Société Générale.
“As an update, we have been furnished with all the bidders of shares that are being disposed of. So the bidding process is still ongoing and hopefully when they decide on the preferred bidder they will also let us know.” he said.
