Starlink has started selling its new Starlink Mini devices in the Kenyan market. The Starlink Mini devices are a more compact and affordable satellite internet solution from SpaceX.
Details
The Starlink Mini kit is currently priced at KES 27,000 (~$200) and is designed for portability and ease of use. The device addresses the primary barrier of upfront hardware cost for many Kenyans.
With internet speeds reaching up to 200 Mbps, the service plans are as accessible as KES 1,300 (~$10) per month for a 50 GB package.
Starlink has also introduced a Residential Lite package for KES 4000 ($30) per month.
Impact on Local Internet Market
The presence of Starlink in the Kenya market is already causing an impact. The Internet service is challenging traditional providers and prompting companies like Safaricom to enhance their services in response to the growing competition.
