Starlink Service Goes Live In Lesotho

Elon Musk’s satellite internet venture, Starlink, has officially gone live in Lesotho. The company was granted a 10-year license to operate by the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) in April this year.

Lesotho would be the 23rd African country to be licensed for Starlink use.

Between the Lines

Local civil society group Section Two had criticized the decision to license Starlink, citing concerns over the lack of local ownership in Starlink Lesotho, which is entirely foreign-owned.

The group argues that such arrangements may sideline national interests and limit inclusive economic participation.
