Last weekend, “Team Capsella” won the first Figma x Github Hackathon at the Meltwater Incubator in East Legon.

Figma is a collaborative interface design tool where designers can work online together in real-time, designing the same file and collaborating.

In collaboration with Github, Figma launched a hackathon in Lagos and Accra. The Accra edition took place at the Meltwater Incubator in Accra on Friday, 27th July.

More than 10 teams composing of 2 – 3 members took part in the hackathon. The theme of the hackathon was to build solutions which would solve problems in the local community. The hackathon was targeted at designers AND developers using both Figma & GitHub tools.

Teams started out on Friday at the MEST incubator and had 24 hours to come up with a working prototype to present to a panel of judges.

Each team had about 5 minutes to present their solution and show off a live demo.

After the presentations, the judges decided that “Team Capsella”, a group of female developers from Developers In Vogue were the overall winners of the hackathon.

Their solution was an app where women could have a secure and safe space to discuss issues sensitive issues such as Domestic Violence, Breast Cancer and other women related issues.
