The Rise Of The Influencer Platforms In Ghana

By Joseph-Albert Kuuire 2 Min Read

Social media is steadily growing in Ghana and brands have been taking notice of these platforms to sell their products to their target market.

To help promote or boost visibility, brands usually reach out to “influencers”, individuals who are well known amongst specific demographics and who tend to have a large social media following, to help boost their products.

In order to make the process better for brands to reach out to influencers, some local startups have starting building platforms to help brands connected with the right influencers.

Brandmeister, a consultancy firm, recently launched “Ripple Influence” to help brands with influencer marketing.

Run by Therese Jones, Ripple Influence uses data-infused insights to help select the right influencers that match a brand’s campaign brief to ensure the largest amount of impact for their campaign.

Influencers can sign up to the platform and be selected for upcoming brand campaigns.

Not to be outdone, there are other platforms also emerging to take advantage of influencers for brand campaigns.

Whoopro is another startup developed by Global Media Alliance. It is a self-service platform that connects brands and digital influencers.

Whoopro helps brands to find the right influencers; Allow influencers to know their worth and earn more; and Provide real-time tracking, reporting, and analytics for both brands and influencers.

Influencer marketing is becoming a growing trend all over the world and Ghana is no exception. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat have become the go-to apps for most people on the internet for social media. According to Internet World Statistics, there were over 11 million internet users in Ghana at the end of 2019, achieving a growth rate of 39% since 2000.

It should be interesting to see how many more platforms would evolve over time due to the growing trend of influencers and social media marketing in Ghana.
