Twitter will in the future be adding a new feature that focuses on conversations.
Suzanne Xie, Twitter’s director of product management, said the company will be adding a new setting called “conversation participants” on the compose screen on the app.
There will be four options:
- Global – This setting lets anybody reply to your tweet
- Group – This setting only allows people you follow and mention to reply to your tweet
- Panel – This setting is for people you specifically mention in the tweet you compose
- Statement – This allows you to post a tweet and receive NO replies
Twitter is currently experimenting and doing research with this feature and will run experiments in the first quarter. Twitter plans to launch the feature globally later this year.
