Uber Provides Discounted Rides To Vaccine Centers In Ghana

Uber Ghana is offering discounted trips to and from vaccination centers in Accra and Kumasi.

As part of Uber’s commitment towards supporting communities across the country, Uber will provide two free trips up to the value of GHC20 per rider to and from vaccination centers in Accra and Kumasi. This initiative also provides caretakers and loved ones an opportunity to help someone eligible, get access to a vaccine by requesting on their behalf.

While there still remains a long road to full recovery, we are proud to help achieve this goal and make it as easy as possible for Ghanaians to get vaccinated. This is part of the effort to leverage our technology to positively impact communities and support the government’s successful vaccination drive aimed at protecting the population against the virus”. – Jessica Poku, Uber Country Manager for Ghana.

The global COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world, impacted economic activity, and transformed the way we live. Ghana’s economic recovery depends strongly on the rollout of Covid-19 vaccines, and with initiatives such as these, recovery is possible.

As part of Uber’s global commitment to offer vaccine rides, Uber is committed to moving people towards what matters and that is towards adequate health care that offers protection against the virus. As of October 03, 2021, Ghana had administered over 1.65 million doses of coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine. This initiative is expected to increase this number providing access to the vaccine for many more people.

How To Claim Your Ride:

If you are new to Uber, create an Uber account. To download the app, go to the App Store or Google Play.

  • Go into the Uber app
  • Tap on ‘Accept voucher’
  • Voucher details will appear (expiration date, eligible areas restricted geos list, etc)
  • Voucher will appear on Wallet

Navigate to the rides home screen and enter the pick-up/drop-off location for yourself or the person you are booking for. Remember, the trip must start or end at the vaccination centers
