Uru Is Entering The Ride-Sharing Space In Ghana; Uber Beware?

By Joseph-Albert Kuuire 1 Min Read

It looks like Uber might be getting some local competition.

Uru appears to be a new player in the ride-sharing space. From what I could find online (not a lot), Uru offers services ranging from taxis, charter services, business cars, special travel cars, parcel delivery and truck delivery.

From the iTunes app description, Uru is going to be available in Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory-Coast, and Kenya with a promise to launch in more countries. (From the Uru website, it looks like they’ll be launching on Sunday)

Like other ride-sharing apps, Uru appears to work just like Uber. Users just launch the app and request cars to their destinations

But how will this play out with the average citizens? Can Uru grab some market share from Uber? Are they offering better incentives for drivers? Can they even get drivers on their platform?

A lot of questions need to be answered. Hopefully, more details will emerge when Uru officially launches on Sunday.

Update: From Uru’s update on their website, they will be launching this Friday, 21st April, 2017.
