What To Expect At Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked Event

Samsung will hold its first in-person smartphone launch on February 1st for its Samsung Unpacked event. Samsung is expected to announce its new Samsung S23 series at this event as well as some other products.

At this same event last year, Samsung announced its S22 line up which featured the S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra. The company also announced its new tablets.

Here’s what we’re expecting at this year’s event:

Galaxy S23 series

Samsung is expected to announce its S23 series at this year’s event. The company is expected to launch a standard S23 device as well as a S23 Plus and a higher-end S23 Ultra.

The devices are expected to be a higher spec than last year and will include a 200-megapixel main sensor for its camera. The Galaxy S23 Ultra will reportedly have three additional cameras, a 12-megapixel ultrawide, a 10-megapixel telephoto with a 3x optical zoom, and another 10-megapixel telephoto with a 10x optical zoom.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra will seemingly have square corners and an accompanying S Pen stylus.

The Galaxy S23 is expected to come with a 6.1-inch 1080p 120Hz OLED display. The S23 Plus will be bigger at 6.6 inches and the S23 Ultra will have the largest screen at 6.8 inches.

As far as internal specs, it’s expected that there will be 8 and 12GB of RAM and 256GB to 1TB of storage in the Ultra, while the two other models will reportedly only ship with 8GB of RAM and between 128 and 512GB of storage. Battery capacities range from 3,900mAh to 5,000mAh across the three phones, with 45W fast charging on the Plus and Ultra and 25W on the base S23. 

Galaxy Book 3

Samsung is expected to launch a new line of Galaxy Book laptops at their events. Reports say their new laptops will be called the Galaxy Book 3, Book 3 360, Book 3 Pro, Book 3 Pro 360, and Book 3 Ultra.

The Book 3 Ultra will reportedly be the highest-end model. and will have a 16-inch 1800p OLED display, an Intel i9-13900H CPU, an Nvidia RTX 4070 discrete GPU, 32GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and will be compatible with Samsung’s S Pen stylus.

The Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 will be announced with a 16-inch 1800p OLED display, with a choice of an Intel i5-1340P or i7-1360 CPU, integrated Intel graphics, 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, and stylus support.

The non-360 Galaxy Book 3 Pro will reportedly be available with a 14-inch screen in addition to the 16-inch version. 


Samsung’s Unpacked event will be livestreamed over on its YouTube channel tomorrow (Wednesday, February 1st), starting at 1PM ET / 10AM PT / 6PM GMT.
