What To Expect From Telsa’s Investor Day On March 1

On March 1st, Elon Musk and Tesla will be having its Investor Day event at its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.

There are a lot of expectations from the event as many wait for Elon Musk to talk about Tesla’s future plans.

Musk has said the event is for “people and life of earth,” adding that “it will be a message of good hope & positivity for the future.”

Here’s what to expect from Tesla’s Investor Day:

Master Plan 3

Elon Musk is expected to discuss the 3rd stage of Telsa’s Master Plan.

In the first Master Plan, Elon discussed Tels’a strategy for the decade which was to launch a sports car and use the revenue to build affordable cars (Model S and Model 3) and provide electric power generation options.

In the second Master Plan, Elon discussed a pickup truck, an electric bus, an electric semi-truck, and other battery-powered public transport options.

For Master Plan 3, Elon Musk said he will outline “the path to a fully sustainable energy future for Earth.” There are expectations that the Master Plan 3 will be a convergence of Tesla, SpaceX, and the Boring Company.

Robotaxi

In a recent earnings call, Musk said that the company has “made a lot of progress” on its forthcoming robotaxi. He also predicted mass production of the new autonomous vehicle would begin in 2024.

The fact that the company is designing a standalone robotaxi speaks to its failures in executing past master plans.

Gen 3 Platform

Will the robotaxi be the first vehicle to be built on Tesla’s next-generation platform? It’s still unclear, but Musk has been dropping hints about the cost savings the company is trying to achieve as it looks down the road toward future, more affordable vehicles.

Musk has said that its “Gen 3 Platform” will help the company cut down on production costs and make Tesla make more affordable vehicles.

The goal, he has said, is to get to a place where Tesla can make two cars for the same cost as one Model 3 which means Telsa will be designing a more efficient manufacturing process so it can make this future vehicle faster and more cost-effective.
