Yango Ghana, in collaboration with Bboxx and Kofa, has launched a partnership to scale up the use of electric vehicles (EVs) among couriers on the Yango Delivery service.
Why it matters
Ghana’s logistics sector is expanding rapidly, but it remains heavily dependent on petrol-powered motorbikes. This initiative aims to cut emissions, lower operating costs, and make green mobility accessible to everyday riders.
How it works:
- Yango will use its delivery network to connect couriers with the program.
- Bboxx will offer a PAYGO (pay-as-you-go) financing plan, enabling riders to afford e-bikes through flexible payments.
- Kofa will provide JIDI e-bikes and its battery-swapping infrastructure, allowing riders to easily exchange depleted batteries for charged ones.
What they’re saying:
“Together, we are making green technology more accessible to everyday couriers, empowering them to earn more while reducing their environmental impact,” said Emmanuel Koduah, Country Manager for Yango Delivery Ghana.
“By collaborating with Yango and Kofa, we are creating a pathway for thousands of riders to embrace e-mobility and drive a cleaner, more efficient delivery ecosystem,” said Leticia Teiko Insaidoo, MD of Bboxx Ghana.
Erik Nygard, CEO of Kofa, added: “Partnering with Yango and Bboxx allows us to bring our clean energy vision to life for thousands of couriers, lowering their costs, increasing their earnings, and accelerating the shift to clean energy.”
The big picture
The JIDI e-bikes, co-developed by Kofa and TAILG, are designed for African riders — delivering petrol-level performance, enhanced safety, and up to 30% lower running costs. Couriers will also benefit from free servicing and exclusive incentives.
Between the lines
This collaboration is part of a broader push by Yango Group and its partners to localize sustainability — blending digital platforms, clean energy solutions, and accessible financing models to reshape Ghana’s transport ecosystem.
